About this project

The information presented here is based upon contributions. Because of this the accuracy depends upon the original documentation.

OSDL has many activities involving the enhancing and furthering of Linux (r). However one reoccurring question that keep arising is, "Does any body have documentation for X?". Obviously to any developer or user of the operating system it this can be critical to a successful deployment.

Until now this documentation has been spread around the Internet. In some cases the person with the documentation is no longer the maintainer of that portion of the tree and this can make it difficult to track down where the information exists.

It should be noted that this isn't the same as the Linux Documentation Project (LDP) which is writing the documentation for Linux(r). This is an attempt to bring together the information needed to create Linux and its open source software stack.
